Who Will Make the Call on the 2011 Halftime Show
Posted by Brooks on Feb. 08, 2010, 5:20pm
Coplin talked about the Super Bowl halftime show to Reuters last week, including his criteria for selecting the act:
“We stay away from overexposed acts. When was the last time you saw the Who on TV? We like acts whose songs are very familiar to people of all ages, all demographics.
“There are other acts who do wonderful things and their music is tremendous, but it’s not always as anthemic and explosive, and when you’re doing something like the Super Bowl, those two words are really vital parts of making a show come to life.”
So who will be privileged the gig at Cowboys Stadium? My source said it’s a virtual lock that the NFL will go country for the big game in Dallas next February. To the end, I was also provided the five most likely candidates.
On the subject of possible acts, my source offered up five candidates:
1) Kenny Chesney
2) Garth Brooks
3) Tim McGraw
4) Brooks & Dunn
5) Jimmy Buffett

If ever they'll be in next year's Superbowl or in future games, the band for sure will look at this issue.
The challenge is getting them in.
will be in
if it happens.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Stadium, relentlessly courted Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao to have the upcoming boxing match held at his Stadium.

I know for a fact that Jerry Jones is a bud of the President of The Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce. I used to be one of the officers of the Fil-Am Association of North Texas and that's how I know Oscar Macaraeg...hmmm, I can call him and ask or suggest!

I just got off the phone with Oscar. First, he said that the "politics" that are involved in this is HUGE! Bottom line, it's all about money and the NFL will decide who gets to perform. He did, however, suggest to write and suggest here:

My thoughts, after listening to Oscar, we should contact the above NFL officials as far as performer suggestions for next year! So, let's all do it!!!

Someone can do the petition letter, and I'll do the petition online form. I have several to choose from and I have narrowed it down to two. I thought of creating a Facebook and Twitter group but it will require gathering of signatures/data from different sites while the online petition will automatically gather the results and in one place for easy access. I will have it ready either today or tomorrow so we can start collecting signatures. Petition letter to follow.
Superbowl XLV here we come!!!

I will start a Facbook page to see if we can gather some support there and then link it to the online petition when you get one. It couldn't hurt. Even the "We want Betty White to host SNL" facebook page has gained national coverage. We can pull the power of FB for some good.
Plokker Power...STAND BACK!!!!
exciting!!!
