LOL@Cameron/Bigelow pic!

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan files a $100 million lawsuit over the "milkaholic" E*Trade ad, saying that the ad improperly invoked her "likeness, name, characterization, and personality" without permission, violating her right of privacy. Her lawyer maintained that Lohan has the same "single-name" recognition as celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Madonna. Heehee.

All-black penguin discovered
By Stephen Messenger, TreeHugger

Photo via Andrew Evans of the National Geographic.

King Penguins are notorious for their prim, tuxedoed appearance -- but a recently discovered all-black penguin seems unafraid to defy convention. In what has been described as a "one in a zillion kind of mutation," biologists say that the animal has lost control of its pigmentation, an occurrence that is extremely rare. Other than the penguin's monochromatic outfit, the animal appears to be perfectly healthy -- and then some. "Look at the size of those legs," said one scientist, "It's an absolute monster."

The under-dressed penguin was photographed by Andrew Evans of National Geographic on the island of South Georgia near Antarctica. As the picture circulated, some biologists were taken aback -- including Dr. Allan Baker of the University of Toronto. His first response was disbelief:
Wow. That looks so bizarre I can't even believe it. Wow.

While multicolored birds will often show some variation, Dr. Baker explains that what makes this all-black King Penguin so rare is that the bird's melanin deposits have occurred where they are typically not present -- enough so that no light feathers even checker the bird's normally white chest.

Andrew Evans:
Melanism is merely the dark pigmentation of skin, fur -- or in this case, feathers. The unique trait derives from increased melanin in the body. Genes may play a role, but so might other factors. While melanism is common in many different animal species (e.g., Washington D.C. is famous for its melanistic squirrels), the trait is extremely rare in penguins. All-black penguins are so rare there is practically no research on the subject -- biologists guess that perhaps one in every quarter million of penguins shows evidence of at least partial melanism, whereas the penguin we saw appears to be almost entirely (if not entirely) melanistic.

Whether or not the all-black look catches on in the penguin fashion world, it's nice to see someone dressing-down for once.

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this .

"UP"......the many uses of the word 'UP"

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP..'

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to writeUP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressedUP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP . When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP...

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so.......it is time to shut UP!

Oh . . . one more thing:

What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night? U-P

Yeah, sometimes English is to confusing to many foreigners. They say that in English, one word is used in many different ways such as the word "plak" to plug to an outlet, "plak" when raising the flag, "plak" when they are given plaques, "plak" when their dentist says it has to be removed to avoid tooth decay. Now that confuses them even more to hear many of Arnel's friends say they "plak" with Arnel in the SB.

Swede Gets Sickness Benefit – Because He’s A Metal Fanatic!
mdome / News / 19/03/2010 16:11pm

A Swedish man is receiving sickness benefit – because he’s addicted to heavy metal music!

Seriously, 42-year-old dishwasher Roger Tullgren from Hasesleholm has been classified as suffering from a disability by the Swedish Employment Service, because of his lifestyle. Last year he went to nearly a gig every day, and he also plays in two bands. (Because we needed a photo to illustrate this story, we must assume he’s also a fan of Betsy from ~.)

So, the authorities have agreed to pay part of his salary. And he’s allowed to play loud music at work. How did all this start? When he heard Black Sababth in 1971.

Classic Rock is now relocating to Sweden!

Officer Buys Car Seat For Motorist
POSTED: 8:55 am CDT March 21, 2010

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Iowa -- A University Heights police officer worried about an unrestrained child in a vehicle he pulled over purchased the boy's mother a car seat.

Officer Don Strong said he spotted the boy bouncing in the back of the vehicle while on traffic enforcement duty on Thursday. Strong says the boy's mother told him they had an 80-mile drive to Knoxville and no way to secure the child.

After trying to locate a car seat elsewhere, Strong and the family went to the Walmart in Iowa City and the officer bought a car seat for the boy.

Strong said the $60 cost was "a small price to pay for the child's safety."

The Right Brain vs Left Brain test

The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

:ap_pray: its possible.. hehe.. let me help you out..

try setting your screen monitor with only the lower foot exposed and also with the shadow (like the screenshot i took above)..
then close your eyes first and think of the opposite direction from how you view it normally..
hmmm, literally rolling your eyeballs to the direction you want to see it may help.. then open your eyes and stare at the rotating feet with the direction of the movement you want still in mind..
once you see a change in pattern, try moving the screen upward to view the entire lady..
keep the direction in mind still..hehehehe

try it , hope it works this time..lol :ap_sigh:

Pac-Man appears in Nasa Saturn moon pictures
March 30, 2010 4:41 PM

Image

A bizarre likeness of Pac-Man has appeared in thermal images taken by Nasa of Mimas, one of the moons of Saturn.

The 80s computer game icon is clearly visible in the shots taken by the Cassini spaceship orbiting the planet - and even appears to be eating a dot.

In the image of the 246 mile diameter moon, the outline of Pac-Man is created by the varying surface temperatures which range from 92 Kelvin (Pac-Man) to 77 Kelvin.

While we are always pleased to see computer game characters appearing like this, we only wish it could have been Space Invaders.
"We suspect the temperatures are revealing differences in texture on the surface," said John Spencer, a Cassini composite infrared spectrometer team member.

"It's maybe something like the difference between old, dense snow and freshly fallen powder."

Scientists working with the composite infrared spectrometer, which mapped Mimas' temperatures, expected smoothly varying temperatures peaking in the early afternoon near the equator.

Linda Spilker, Cassini project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory added: "Other moons usually grab the spotlight, but it turns out Mimas is more bizarre than we thought it was. It has certainly given us some new puzzles."

it was working on me. Try looking on your peripheral (right or left) view or just the side of the box in split second and return to the dancing foot, then you will notice the change from clockwise to counter clockwise and vise versa. It's just like excising your eyes, hehehe. Thanks seven. :ap_thumbsup:
